Followers find what’s in fashion and ride trends - leaders carve a new path. Her name is not a common household word, but she has changed the world of media. Meet an icon of children’s cable television programming and television for women - Geraldine Laybourne. She is the woman who transformed Nickelodeon from its struggling roots to what we now know as an international brand with ground breaking creative content. Ms. Laybourne is also known for her next big job, which was to lead the start-up and then successful growth of Oxygen Media for women. Founded with Oprah Winfrey, who was then simply a television talk show host, Geraldine Laybourne led the team to build this women owned television venture.
Today, we applaud her epic work in media - and her activism. Recently, Ms. Laybourne put herself on the street for an unfashionable night of sleeping in a cardboard box in New York City as 1 of 50 business leaders taking part in the First Annual Covenant House CEO Sleep Out.
Geraldine Laybourne is an inspirational business leader to girls and women everywhere and today she is epic.
